Concrete Volume & Materials Estimator

Sakrete Concrete Calculator

Estimate the number of concrete mix bags needed for a slab, footing, column, or hole — based on standard Sakrete bag yields. Numbers update as you type.

Common: 4" (patio), 6" (driveway), 8" (heavy load).

Yields are based on Sakrete's published values.

Enter your dimensions to see how many bags you need.

How is this calculated?

Volume of concrete depends on the application:

  • Slab: length × width × thickness
  • Footing: length × width × depth
  • Round column / hole: π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × height × quantity

A waste allowance (default 10%) is added to your net volume so you order enough to cover spillage and over-pour.

Bag yields used (Sakrete published values): 30 kg ≈ 0.48 ft³ (0.0136 m³), 40 kg ≈ 0.64 ft³ (0.018 m³), 60 lb ≈ 0.45 ft³ (0.0127 m³), 80 lb ≈ 0.60 ft³ (0.017 m³).

Bags needed = total volume ÷ bag yield (rounded up).

Tip: Always buy a few extra bags. Unopened bags can usually be returned if kept dry. For larger pours (over ~1 m³ / 1.3 yd³), ready-mix delivery is usually more economical than bagged concrete.
